THE CLIENT

Marketing Manager with 8 direct reports, working in a structured and evolving company.

Starting point

Despite the responsibility of the role, the manager’s internal positioning was fragile.

The main difficulties were:

  • a weak internal personal brand
  • strong interference linked to self-perception
  • difficulty finding an effective way to lead the team
  • uncertainty about how to grow into the role
  • the risk of coming across as authoritarian when trying to lead

This resulted in:

  • difficulty engaging the team
  • leadership that went unrecognised
  • little ability to drive change

The challenge

The aims of the journey were to:

01 Build a new internal narrative of self

02 Develop a steadier, more intentional leadership

03 Lead change in the team without creating resistance

04 Develop the talent reporting to them

05 Strengthen authority and presence in the role

  • overcoming blocks tied to self-image
  • a solid, recognisable personal brand

02.

Leading the team

  • the ability to lead without resorting to authoritarian models
  • better management of people and operational dynamics
  • greater clarity in the role

03.

Internal positioning

  • increased credibility
  • greater visibility and recognition

The results

  • a stronger internal personal brand
  • interference linked to self-perception overcome
  • change in the team set in motion while the journey was still under way
  • direct recognition from the General Manager
  • an evolved role: now the right hand of the Marketing Director
  • coordinating 5 marketing divisions and 25 indirect reports

Conclusion

The journey showed how developing personal leadership directly accelerates organisational impact.

When a leader’s internal positioning changes, so does the quality of relationships, decisions and results.

In this case, one person’s growth quickly brought about a concrete change in how the team is structured and managed.
